... Thus creating jobs, giving a new way to bring in tax money (for the recreational use), removing one source of income from the underground.
I admit, drugs are bad. I drink some, on occasion. Pot is bad, tobacco is worse, and alcohol is somewhere in between, and yet, the latter two ARE legal, raking in tax money left, right, and center.
It will be done by people, anyway. Might as well make sure it won't kill anyone.

Well 99% of stoners are mellow and just want to eat and chill and yes not all drunks are roudy I used to drink and wasnt roudy I was more of a mellow and happy drunk :P Anyways my point is I am tired of the taboo it is to talk about weed and the silly reason it is illegal and seeing so many people frown upon it when they are fed nothing but lies for years. I was one of those people, I finally had the chance to research it and try it and seriously its just something that makes you high or drunk, its like having a few beers except you just want to eat and chill :P Nough bout that got to get to work will post the facts soon :D
Sorry if I came on too strong Me :D

1. I have a miniscus tear, (A knee injury) it never will heal properly without surgery, I can't afford surgery, and it's always painful.
2. I am an insomniac, and I do not sleep well. it's either sleeping pills, alcohol, or marijuana that helps with that, I don't like the sleep I get from the pills, I hate hang overs, so I would rather be high and get sleep.
3. simply this. I like to come home from work and smoke marijuana because it helps me wind down.
I do not smoke at work, I do not smoke around my child, and I'm always responsible.
It is my oppinion that pot heads are a lot easier to get along with, and (As long as they're not total burn outs) they are usually intelligent. People who drink or do other drugs (Meth, LSD, PCP, cocaine, herione.) are more likely to freak out. Here where I live, there are alot of drunks and druggies, and I deal with them all night long at work. Pot heads do NOT give me as much problems as the latter.

You are right many people want it to stay illegal because it is much more profitable for them that way (not to mention the lack of taxes).
I personally think that they should treat it like they do booze. The extra strong stuff is Gov. controlled while the weaker stuff is given a bit of a break. (like liquor and beer). But for the people that think that it should be for medical use or not at all here are a few facts for that argument as well.
People that argue that any medicinal benefit is overshadowed by the harm it causes are (in my opinion) very wrong and poorly informed. What it does to the body when smoked is less harmful than both cancer sticks, and when eaten far less harmful than booze. I mean really how many people have ever died from THC poisoning? Any of you know? Well I will tell you, the answer is 0. That is because if a person where to smoke enough to kill themselves they would have died due to smoke inhalation first.
I have seen how it can stimulate the appetite of people (a huge medical benefit) calm people down (large benefit) and greatly reduce some types of pain. These are just three of the medical benefits that I was able to witness first hand, I know that there are others as well.
I personally Have never tried it in any form and have no plans to use it in the future, but I was able to see how it relaxed and revived my father when he was hurting, and helped him with his appetite when he was having some problems. I am thankful that he was able to use as much as he wanted when he wanted it, and I am grateful for the extra years it gave him (yes it let him live a longer life).
P.S. natural highs require energy, people get that energy form consuming food. Nothing in life is free, if it appears that it is, it just needs to be looked at closer.

Personally I think it should be legal. Always have!
1) The US government grows it already for "certain" medical conditions.
2) People make MILLIONS of dollars selling it. And grow it anyway for themselves.
3) Society will never make it go away.
Since the dawn of time, humans have done drugs or drank. Sometimes this was for visions, pain relief, medical reason..etc..etc. We as a species are always searching for a way out of our dull routine lives. Be it drinking, drugs, or even sex for that matter. Humans have abused every substance they can get. From the Opium dens of the past to Main Street America. I for one use and NEVER ONCE lost my job over it, was unable to pay my bills or put food on my table. I jokingly tell my ADULT children..they survived childhood cause I was stoned sometimes. >.< . I never pushed it on anyone. I never felt out of control with myself. It never ruined my life or things like that..I didn't let it. But I have seen it ruin friends and family in the past. I, however, KNEW I had responsibility to myself and my children. What I do in my private life is my own. If I choose to smoke instead of consuming drinks....so be it. I think drinking is more hazardous than smoking. I could tell you all stories of the years and years I spent in this life style...I was very heavy into many drugs n things. I LEARNED from the experiences. And yes I have been to AA and all those related programs within my lifetime. And yes I am fully aware I am a functioning alcoholic and drug addict.
Grins and High 5's Biggs... ^_^ :D Free is always good darlin.. :D
Dulcet, that's awesome you can get high on life. Others can't. I was clean and sober for many years after my divorce back in..ooo 1991. I found things in life can get you high..or higher..So rock on my friend. :D
Amen Chris!!
If we're voting on killing stuipd people then Zshade is #1 on the list. :D

Wow.................You are ALL missing the point!~~lights a one-hit, to over-emphasize........~~
At one point in our not-too-distant past(the first half of the past century!), marijuana was QUITE legal! It was used for everything; from herbal teas, to making paper, and all that; right? You people are mistaking HEMP---which is NOT marijuana!---for the shit you smoke!
Hemp, prior to 1936-38, was a MAJOR cash crop, throughout much of the Upper Midwest! It was grown, quite legally, right here, in central North Dakota, and northeastern South Dakota, right next to other row crops; namely, corn, spring wheat, and even soybeans! Hemp cannot be smoked; it can, however, be used for just about anything and everything! What do you think they used, for well over a few thousand years, to make rope with?? It CAN be used, as an alternative fuel source; to make clothes with; and, yes, even paper! (Though why you would for the last one is beyond me; however, what do you think those papyrus sheets were made of, anyway?) Marijuana, on the other hand, is a WEED! We are the only civilization on this planet that actually has learned to cultivate our weeds! Think on that, while I make my point..........
Marijuana grows wherever certain root-vines grow; primarily, the hemp plant, and it's various "relatives", within the Family: Mint, parsely, even olive trees can produce marijuana, simply because these plants, and their vines, produce Tetra-Hydrocannibanol-6(THC), as a by-product of their photosynthesis! Thus, while the explorers of the western Europeans were exploring, they were also "exporting" what many of their sailors smoked with them! (Industrial hemp? Been around, for well over 6,000 years, people!) The point?
By 2010, 1 in every 6 or 7 Americans will have tried pot, at one time or another in their life; by 2025, it is estimated that that number will have risen to 1 in every 4 Americans! Legalize it, already; it's been around, as long as wine has! Minnesota actually has a Marijuana Stamp Tax on it's books; and, while it was designed to catch drug dealers with, it's still there; and it was made a law in 1993!
Oh; the last major hemp crop in North Dakota was produced in 1988, before that USDA-controlled field was burned! (I know; I was there, smelling it "down-range", as it were!) If marijuana was taxed, we could effectively reduce the deficit by HALF!!! And, yes: There ARE still some states that grow hemp, meaning, those states also have the highest marijuana-producing crops going; and no one's in control of those, other than the USDA..................Think on that.

I hate to say this, Alex; but, there is no MALE version of marijuana! It, independently, can be grown WITHOUT cross-fertilization or --pollination, as we Americans and those in Mexico have discovered, over the past 60--75 years! Hemp is, by itself, one of the most durable vine-trees(or, treevines, more properly called!) that can grow ANYWHERE on the planet!
Oh; and Lolah?? Technically speaking, they are ALL a part of the Cannabis Family; yes, even olive trees! (I did MY research, well over 33 years ago; hold old am I, again?) :P ;) :hehe: :( ~~carefully puts out the one-hit, and throws it back in the dugout......~~
