Very valid point, but to quote what I believe is a Chinese proverb "There is only one most beautiful child in the world, and every mother has it".

But she does make me positively giddy with love

I wondered that too... but then I suppose they might have started using it at the time when you were only allowed one child per family to overcome the overcrowding in the country? Certainly a saying with some logic flaws, but it doesn't stop the heart of it's meaning being beautiful.
